 Surfing Point Judith, Rhode Island
Point
Judith
From a distance, this looks like a quintessential New England pointbreak.
Upon closer examination, it reveals itself as a collection of smaller
breaks that sometimes connect in sections. Beach access is difficult
and rocky. Rocks in the impact zone are covered with barnacles,
and there is no lineup paddling channel. Larger swell here causes
strong rip currents and wields board-snapping power. The south side
has a danger zone where surfers can become pinned in a rocky corner
by the current and surf. Crowds here are prevalent during the summer
and lessen in the off-season. Ideal conditions are WNW winds combined
with a SSE swell direction.at a mid incoming tide.
