Skaket Beach in Orleans is a great alternative to Nauset on a busy summer day. The placid Cape Cod Bay water here is warm, making it perfect for swimming near high tide. During low tide, beachcombers can explore the expansive tidal flats, as well.
Skaket faces due west across the bay, making it an ideal spot for sunset watchers along the Orleans shoreline. Facilities here include public restrooms, a concession stand, outdoor showers and wheelchair accessibility. Lifeguards are also on duty in-season.

Parking at Skaket beach requires a daily town fee during the summer. With a relatively small lot, spaces here fill quickly so plan to arrive early.
