To All Those Concerned and to Those too Stupid to be Concerned First, Plovers taste just like chicken. Second, humans do not taste like seals...so the Great White will bite and taste then spit you out. Now you do not have to worry about being eaten or poisoning the Great White with your flesh. More importantly...to all you nitwits obsessed with all this High Technology available in our culture and who have to check in with their laptops or smartphones to inform themselves what their obvious environment surroundings might be. I'm with Rob...Get yer Lazy no good asses off the couch and crawl out of your insulated environments and get outdoors to observe what's going on or at least look out the window. You just might learn something and most assuredly enhance your life and well-being. Most of all...you have to quit your whining..nobody give's a rat's "anal sphincter". |

A comment to all Ive been surfing and enjoying these waters for a long time. To start with, I think the beach cam is fine. it's something we never had years ago. We would accualy have to drive down to the beach and see if we were going to paddle out or not. No surf forcast reports, bouy data, or even weather reports. What a bitch that the Nauset Beach cam has such poor resolution. Who ever posted that, should put down the wii and get off your lazy ass and go check the surf for yourself. it's a service the town is now providing, and you should be happy about it. I'm not going to get into sharks or plovers, but just say its nature. It was there in the past, its here now, and will always be. It's something we will always have to deal with, but how we deal with it will make the difference. In closing, I dont know who posted that the sharks keep people that shouldnt be surfing out of the water, but upset me to hear that. In my opinion, there isn't anyone who shouldn't be surfing. Your comment in itself takes away from the sport. Yes, I will agree that nobody likes to get dropped in on. but I'm the guy out there thats helping him, and teaching him instead of yelling him off the beach that nobody owns. What you locals forget is, this isn't the North shore, and there's another wave coming behind the one you lost. Everyone has a first day surfing, and i don't even remember mine, but i cant stand to see idiots, that arent even that good, give some kid shit for trying. My son is 7 and already ripping, but i have taught him what the sport is all about. I wish you guys knew too. |

stop switching angles! This cam is kinda weak, the quality is horrible and the fact that it switches every minute is just annoying because you can't get a good look at the waves. I think most people look at this cam to check the surf, so it would make sense to get one good view of the surf and leave it. For those who are trying to check the crowds.... on hot sunny days there's a lot of people, and on ------(bad) days there aren't, you don't need a cam to tell you that. Oh and sharks? Puhleeeease, I can't believe everyone still has Jaws syndrome. Yes there are tons of Great White sharks off of Monomoy and Nauset Beach, and none of them really have any interest in eating you, they want seals, so just be smart about when and where you swim and they won't bother you. And yes there have been Makos and Great Whites spotted in the Bay this summer as well, and they don't want to eat you either. Just don't go swimming with the seals off Monomoy and you should be fine. Sharks have been coming here longer than we have and they're not stopping anytime soon. |

Marine Biologist Blaming the Plover (and Least Tern's) survival and isolation of seal population and ensuing shark attack was stupid and sad. I 've planed enough dune grass from orv's destruction over 35 years to see those wankers would never police themselves and that you may have to walk a bit to get that elusive striper or tube ride?..................'only fortune favors the brave!' |

surfdog's plover comments that article you posted is utterly ridiculous. plovers and beach closings are a fact of life these days so suck it up and deal with it like everyone else. To suggest that there are more shark sightings because of more beach closings due to plovers is a case of some serious miss placed anger! There are more shark sightings because there are more people down here with sharks on there minds. More people that have never spent time on the water or know what the difference is between a sea duck and and a seal. There's also more shark sightings because the water is piss warm and has never been this way so consistently throughout the summer. If we had waves this summer you could seriously be trunking it for a while. Onto my last point....SURFDOG your a huge kook. The beach closings is the best thing thats happened to cape cod surfing cause it keeps the people that shouldn't be surfing off the outer beach for atleast a portion of the summer...keeps that pristine environment from looking like a parking lot for a little while. That beach just like the sport of surfing these days is being 'whored' out to extinction. |

Blame the piping plovers Every year the beach closings are getting longer and longer closing outer beach.because of this seals that normally bi pass are now coming into beaches they normally would not go. This brings the white sharks. If you look at the increase of Great white sightings and the time the beach has been closed you will find the shark sightings are there also. No body surfs Monamoy for this fact. With the break at cut 10 we can call that plover island and let the people that work hard for a living and the surfers that dedicated time to surf alone. We know the birds are in danger and we will protect them. If the beach was not closed there would be less shark sightings even as the seal population grows. Have you ever laughed at a southern state that closes because of a inch of snow? Well they are laughing at us because of our beach closings.Dont get me wrong, I am glad they are reporting the shark sightings and wish they would put a permanent GPS devises so we can see on the computer what beaches they are cruising. Either that or put 2 in the head and call it a day. Because it is only a matter of time before someone gets whacked while your precious little birds are watching from shore. SURFDOG |

... Awesome to have this view of Nauset. Please don't change a thing-it is so nice to see the Atlantic Ocean when I'm stuck here in NY until after Labor Day. |

... We love this web cam. We are in Pa. and it gives us a chance to look in on one of our favorite spots. We'll be there soon, but, until then we can get a look whenever we want ! |

Beautiful I was saddened to see the negative comments about the Nauset Beach cam. For those of us who do not live on Cape Cod but visit often, the camera is a wonderful thing. Seeing ANY part of the ocean is fantastic. Please don't change the different shots of the ocean and beach. |

Poor image quality? what's up with the resolution? Orleans couldn't afford a better camera? This image seems pretty bad vs. the eastham cam! |
