Surfcasting


Surfcasting is a major year-round sport on the Cape & Islands. It involves casting a large lure on heavy test line into the ocean from shore to catch stripers and bluefish. There are some excellent surfcast spots in Chatham, Orleans, Wellfleet and Provincetown. The tackle is usually an 8-10ft rod with larger spinning reel and 15-30lb test line. Be ready to heave anywhere from a 1/4 to 1lb lure 50- 75 yards into the salt water. The reward will be a tasty striped bass or bluefish on your table for dinner that night!
