Since 1964, Robert S. Douglas, owner
and founder of the world-famous Black Dog Tavern Co. has captained
the square-topsail schooner SHENANDOAH,
offering its passengers the once-in-a-lifetime experience of
cruising New England's beautiful coastal waters as it was done
centuries ago - under the power of sail alone. And now along
with the schooner ALABAMA, the mission of the
Black Dog Tall Ships is to introduce to our customers the maritime
heritage of New England and offer the true experience of sail.
These beautiful, historically accurate Tall Ships are available
to all. The bygone era and traditions of wooden ships is maintained
and carried onward onboard the SHENANDOAH
and ALABAMA. The Black Dog Tall Ships
offers programs for children, young adults, and the next generation
up, allowing everyone who steps onboard to experience the thrilling
power of sail.
