Fishing Haiku

David Dunham
#1
my bobber bouncing
line goes tight, pole bends
double what it's all about!
 #2
stink bait for catfish
reeking on a treble hook
well worth end result
#3
backwater stub trees
casting shadows in the depth
crappie hide-away
#4
large or small mouth bass
species matters not to me
all looking good fried
#5
son's first fishing day
screams in fear at his first strike
pole sinks in water
#6
my childs first big catch
run with pride to show momma
that three inch bluegill

Cane Pole
by David Dunham

It was my birthday just last week.
I got some real nice things.
Some baseball cards, a truck
And a robot that can sing.
What interested me the most
Was that new rod and reel!
The rod was graphite and the
Reel was Chromium plated steel!
I couldn't wait to hit the creek
And see what I could do.
I'd never gone to catch a fish
With anything this new!
Well, I put it all together
Pushed the button, threw the line.
I did it like the book had said.
It should have gone just fine!
But what's this bird's nest on my reel?
My hook still at the end?
There's not enough line in the world
To fix this mess again!
I'm going home, but I'll return
To this, my fishing hole,
But I won't bring this rod again!
I'm back to my cane pole!

Carol Leonetti Dannhauser
The worms gross me out.
I feel sorry for the catch.
Yet... I love to fish!

Nessie in my net
In the water I go fast
But only a log

Sarah Gauthier Galluzzo
His wiry frame twists
and bends like his fishing line
master of the sea

Rocking in the boat,
Ripples form in the water
Reeling in the catch .

Vladislav Datsov
Under the blue sky
all gold fishes in the lake
staying still and shy.
