“Mid Cape” refers to Cape Cod’s bicep, a region that incorporates Barnstable Harbor, Lewis Bay and Bass River and the towns of Barnstable, Hyannis, Cotuit, Centerville, Osterville, Yarmouth and Dennis. Hyannis is Cape Cod’s shopping and travel center with the Cape Cod mall, Barnstable Municipal Airport, Hyannis Transportation Center and ferry service to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. During summer months Nantucket Sound beaches offer warm water and reliable southwest winds good for wind surfing and kite surfing.

Kayakers can cross Barnstable Harbor to explore the beaches of Sandy Neck. Numerous fresh water ponds offer beaches and fishing. Along route 28 in West Yarmouth and Dennis Port there are the classic Cape Cod diversions of mini-golf, soft ice cream and fried clams. Rt 6A through Barnstable and Yarmouth Port is one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in America with stately oak trees, colonial era homes and many inviting inns and B&Bs.
