Outlook as of Saturday 7 am - Sloppy today with onshore wind. Bigger slop tomorrow but maybe head high. Monday could clean up with chest+ Friday 7:30am - Onshore wind and lumpy water through Sunday. Waves growing to head high on Sunday. Cleaner conditions next week.

Thursday 6am - Yesterday's reality didn't conform to the forecast data. The waves were there but contrary to the forecast the wind blew onshore all day. This morning Nantucket Buoy is showing 3.3' ESE at 9 sec. And there is no wind at the moment (I'm looking at CG cam right now). Today's low tide is at 3pm; forecast shows wind blowing from SSW at 10+ this afternoon. Call it thigh+ today and tomorrow. Wind starts blowing in from E tomorrow at 10+ and stays that way through Wednesday. There should be wind waves in the chest+ range on Saturday and Sunday.

Wednesday 6:30am - Nantucket Buoy showing 8.5' SSE at 10 secs, light wind from west, low tide at 2:10. Doesn't get much better than this in spring. Light wind and glassy water all day today. Waves will drop from chest+ this morning to waist+ this afternoon. Tomorrow will be nice too with smaller waves.

Tuesday 6:10am - Nantucket Buoy currently showing swell at 7.9' from SSE. Today's wind will be 15+ shifting from SE to S. Tonight the wind will go WNW. Tomorrow will see chest high in the morning dropping to waist in the afternoon with low tide at 2:10 pm.
Monday 7:45am - Wind comes onshore hard today building to 25mph by tonight. Tomorrow's waves will be 2X overhead but wind will continue to be hard onshore. Early Tuesday evening the wind turns offshore. Wednesday looks good for chest high and clean.

Sunday 10:00 am - Today has building 5' SE swell coming in with increasing SE wind.  Storm coming through tomorrow.  Wind may turn offshore by Tuesday afternoon with head+ waves.  Wednesday looks good for chest+.

Storm blows in from SE on Monday, driving head+ waves on Tuesday with wind 25 mph offshore. Wednesday continues to look good with gentle offshore and chest high.

Friday 7:15am - Knee high and glassy today, low tide at 10am. Waist-chest high NE swell with 10 mph+ NE wind Saturday and Sunday. Thursday 8:15am -Waist high today with wind NW at 10+mph, low tide at 9:15. Low pressure coming through Sunday should clean up by next Wednesday with head high and offshore.

Wednesday 4:15pm - It's been a beautiful day with solid waist to chest and occasional head high. Still nice this afternoon. Tomorrow shows no swell but the chart info could be wrong. Outlook as of Saturday 8:50am - Waist high waves out of ESE with light onshore. High tide is at 11:50. Waist to chest for the next few days.

Friday 5:30pm - At Nauset Light at 5pm there were 6 guys out surfing head high short sections. Conditions were cleaning up. For the next few days we'll see surf in the chest+- range with bumpy conditions caused by onshore wind.

Friday 8:30am -Head + waves today from the east with north wind. The wind stays cross/onshore through tomorrow. Saturday morning still looks promising for semi-clean conditions with head high on sets.

Thursday 6:30am - Nantucket buoy is showing 4.9' at 9 secs out of the SE. Today's wind is NE building from 10 to 20 by tonight. The swell will grow today and should peak at 2X head high on sets by tomorrow morning with N or NNE wind at around 10. The swell will drop by 1/2 come Saturday morning with possible light offshore breeze. By late morning Saturday's wind will be N at around 10.

Wednesday 7:45am -Nice E swell starts coming in tomorrow. By Friday it might get to 2X overhead on sets. Saturday should be chest+. As always the wind will dictate how nice it is. Thursday's wind is NE at 17+; Friday's N at around 10 and Saturday morning could be light offshore giving us... wait for it... glassy water. We'll see.

Tuesday 7am - Friday looks like head high with E swell and onshore wind at 8mph. The swell continues smaller on Saturday with a lighter onshore wind.

Monday 8:30am -Friday looks like it'll be nice with chest+ from ESE and offshore NW wind.

Sunday 12:00 noon - Well that last forecast was wrong. If those conditions are glass then sandpaper is silk. When I went into the water at Publix at 10:30am the wind was N 10 and it was bumpy. When I got out at 11:30 the wind was NNE 10 and it was bumpier. The waves ARE waist with occasional chest every 10 minutes or so.

7am - Waist high glass all day today courtesy of gentle NW shifting to SW breezes and a 6' SW swell. Low tide is at 12:30. Friday is looking like head high.

Bra Boys Aussie surf documentary PDF Print E-mail

The Bra Boys, a documentary produced by surfer Sunny Abberton and narrated by Russell Crowe, has been a smashing success in its native Australia. It's now arriving in the USA. The Bra Boys are an Australian surf tribe in the Sydney suburb of Maroubra. Members of the group often tattoo "Bra Boys" and Maroubra's post code "2035" on their backs. As the documentary was being finished Sunny's brother Jai was arrested for killing a local thug and dumping his body off a cliff; his other brother Koby, a world class surfer, was arrested for lying to cover up the shooting. Jai was acquitted for reason of self defense and Koby received a suspended sentence. For the Bra Boys surfing is an escape from a grim urban landscape and their gang acts as an extended family.

Outlook as of Saturday 10am - Nantucket buoy is currently showing 3' SE swell 11 sec. This means solid waist high at Cape beaches. Low tide is at 11:45 and the wind is SW at approx 15 mph. Nice conditions. A brief but nasty little thunder squall passed over this morning and there could be more this afternoon. Keep an eye out to the west. Tomorrow there'll be less wind out of NW and waist high as well. By Wednesday or Thursday next week we could be looking at 2X overhead.

Friday 7am - Another pleasant day today with waist high under sunny skies this morning and a light onshore. Low tide is at 10:30. Clouds come this afternoon. Tomorrow will see better surf, maybe chest high and offshore wind... with rain likely.

Thursday 10:30am - Waist to chest from SE under sunny skies with gentle offshore and 55F. High tide is around 3:30. Work can be put off until tomorrow...

Wednesday 8:30am -Nice day today! We have waves in the chest high range. Low tide is around 9am; there's a light onshore wind and it's sunny. Tomorrow will see chest high again with wind SSW at around 15mph. Go and get it.

Tuesday 9:45am - NE wind will lighten tomorrow and things will clean up a lot but not totally. Thursday is looking outstanding with 10 sec+ interval 4.5 ft E swell coming in, offshore wind and 50F air!!!

Monday 6:10am -  Nantucket Buoy is showing 9.2 feet out of the east at 8 sec intervals with a supporting east wind at 21 kts. Wed, Thurs, Fri all look promising with some long period swell in the 4'+ range.  Wind should lighten up Wed and shift to SSW for Thurs.

Sunday 9:30am -  A low pressure system will be parked offshore for this week sending us waves 2X overhead on Monday and dropping to chest+ by Thursday.  Unfortunately a 20mph wind will be blowing onshore with the larger waves.  The wind could lighten up enough on Wed. for nice conditions. Thursday is the only day showing an offshore wind.
