Cape Cod Surf Outlook Week of July 6th

Outlook as of July 12th - Should be a very pleasant day today with waist+ waves, light onshore breeze and sun. Nantucket buoy is currently showing 3' at 10 secs from ESE. Today's low tide is at 1:45pm. Tomorrow will have waist high waves with onshore SE wind at around 13 mph so conditions will get bumpy. Bertha is pumping waves but she's mellowed a little and not as strong as forecast a few days ago. Waves may get to head high by Wednesday/Thursday.

July 11th 6:45am - Swell from Bertha is beginning to arrive at Cape Cod beaches. Nantucket buoy is showing 4.3' at 11 secs from SE. CG cam shows healthy lines coming in and waves breaking right now at high tide. It'll be chest+ this afternoon. Low tide is at 12:45pm today. Today's wind will be shifting from N to NE at under 10mph. Bertha's waves will be with us through next Thursday and they'll be growing in size to at least head+ by Monday. This is a special event. Enjoy!

July 10th 7am Optimistically it's waist high this morning. As tide comes in this afternoon things may improve. Nantucket buoy is showing 4.3' at 8 secs from SSW. Today's low tide is at 12:20pm. Light westerly wind offshore this afternoon. Conditions are nice. Hurricane Bertha will begin her deliveries tomorrow afternoon and will keep on shipping through next week, starting at chest high and growing each day. Wednesday July 16th could see 2X overhead. These waves will have more heft to them than is typical in New England. A 4' hurricane wave from 1000 miles offshore is much more powerful than a 4' wave generated from a close-to-shore and fast moving storm. It's wise to spend some time looking before paddling out.

July 9th 5:15am It feels like December 23rd and Santa will be here in two days. Bertha looks better and better. Hurricane swell will start arriving on Friday with chest high and should last well into the middle of next week. Looks like we should see clean overhead+ on Monday afternoon, maybe 2X overhead on Tuesday. Oh...BTW there are some thigh high waves out there today. Today's wind is strong SSW at 20+ mph, low tide at 11:20am. Tomorrow should be chest high and clean.

July 8th 3:30pm - Tomorrow is setting up to be thigh high with strong SW winds. Wind drops Thursday and waves could be chest+. Hurricane Bertha is making the turn north and looks like she's going to move slowly through our sweet spot over the course of several days. The first swell from should arrive at Cape Cod beaches on Friday afternoon, grow to head high by Sunday and linger in the chest high range through Tuesday. Wind will be generally favorable.

July 7th 7:20am - Nantucket buoy currently showing 2.3' SSE at 8 secs. Knee to thigh high and clean this morning with light SW wind. Low tide at 9:30am. Wind builds to 10-15mph SSW this afternoon. There will be waves all this week, the best days looking like Wednesday and Thursday with waist + and light offshore wind. If Hurricane Bertha stays on track her first waves will start to arrive at Cape Cod beaches on Sunday. This could be a first rate swell with clean head+ starting a week from today and lasting for 2-3 days.

July 6th - Nantucket buoy currently showing 2' SSW at 8 secs. Knee high set waves! Light winds and foggy. Low tide is at 8:45am. Waist high on tap for Wednesday and Thursday. Bertha continues to develop nicely and could be sending nice long interval head+ waves to us starting next Saturday.
