August 11, 2010 - "Surfing Cape Cod: A Modern Cultural History" presents local surfing history from the surfers themselves. Learn about the anatomy of a surfable wave, how to shape a board, surf-inspired artwork & stories, photos of Cape Cod surfing past & present, rare surfboards, and the surfing legends of the past 50 years on Cape Cod.
Curated by local surfer Russell Kingman, this new rotating gallery exhibit includes contributions from the following surfers, experts & enthusiasts: Mike Marks of MoreBeach.com, Ken Merrill of the Cape Cod Surf Riders, Sick Day Surf Shop of Wellfleet, Matt Rivers & Jamie Demetri of The Pump House, Sugar Surf Cape Cod with Katy Weeks & Rachael Finn, John Winchell, Chick Frodigh, journalist Samantha Pearsall, Andrew Jacobs of Soul Kontrol, Cape Cod Wahines, Shawn Vecchione of VEC Surfboards, Mike Houghton & Family (of Jasper's), Bryan Knowles of rideanything.com, Dillon Murphy of Cape Cod Surf Camp, wood carvings by Nancy Kunik, photography by Claire Hassett & Abby Peterson, and meteorologist Tim Kelley of NECN. The exhbit runs until October 10th.
