Video of Great White Sharks Circling Stand Up Surfer

August 12, 2010 - Professional surfer Chuck Patterson spotted two sharks while out SUP surfing with a couple of friends earlier this week at San Onofre beach, California. He returned the following day to try and capture them on film.

“The next day, I decided to go back out at around the same time and take my camera mounted on a 10ft pole and do some exploring.... Within five minutes a 9ft shark came out of nowhere and circled twice and slapped his tail on my board before disappearing.... Then a minute later a 7ft young juvenile Great White swam circles around me for 12 minutes.”

Tarp Surfing

August 10, 2010 - One or more people pull the end of a giant tarp to simulate a barreling wave. Then, when the barrel is just right, another person on a skateboard rides in and gets tubed. Nobody really knows when or where tarp surfing originated, but the hobby has no doubt exploded since Santa Cruz surfers Homer Henard, Omar Etcheverry and Nic Lamb posted their comedic video on YouTube on July 19. With help from friend Chris Killen, a television and film production graduate from Cal State Los Angeles, the trio have received more than 1.55 million views. People have contacted them from as far away as Australia, Japan and Africa to say they’re buying tarps. More from Isaiah Guzman at MercuryNews.com

1.5+ million hits and counting....

Bungee Skimboarding

Surfboard For Night Surfing

Surfboard For Night Surfing

August 6, 2010 - The deck looks like a pool of glowing plankton (or the Milky Way if you prefer) with an elder Harry Potter holding a crystal ball in the middle of it. Renowned board maker Bill Stewart created the Night Stalker surfboard specifically for surfing at night. The shortboard features two 700 lumen headlights for seeing waves when paddling out and LED embedded side fins for cool effects. The board was designed and shaped for Billabong's "Art of Shaping" charity event in conjunction with this year's ASR show in San Diego, August 13th and 14th.
