Description
This is a very popular half-mile mile public beach with two full-service pavilions offering concessions, restrooms and a first aid station. Further amenities include picnic areas and changing rooms. It also has a full summer event schedule including surf lessons/leagues, musical concerts, sandcastle contests, volleyball leagues, triathlons, and numerous seasonal festivals. Town Beach is one of the busiest beaches in New England and usually has a wave (and almost always a crowd). A favorite for beginners and longboarders, the break here normally lacks shape and closes out. However, it's the only place to go when the surf is small, which is almost all summer. There is also a fishing pier here too.
