Description
This recreational area offers panoramic views of both Newport
Harbor and Narragansett Bay. The structure itself was the second most
heavily armed fort in the U.S. Fort Adams was key to Narragansett area
defenses and designed to be the most heavily armed fort in America. Three
tiers of guns defended Narragansett Bay's east passage. Activities including
swimming, fishing and boating. This site is perhaps best known for its
annual summer concerts featuring jazz and folk music that draw thousands
to enjoy the music and outdoor venue. Facilities include restrooms, picnic
area and a fish pier.
