Description
Wells is a seven-mile barrier beach separated from the mainland by a river. There are several public beach sections providing plenty of space for sunbathing, walking and other activities, even at high tide. This 4000-yd beach is bordered by natural sand dunes and sea grass. It’s quite popular and provides extensive facilities including restrooms, concessions, a picnic area, playground, arcade and adjacent shops. There is also a scenic overlook in the parking lot with benches for pedestrians to watch the beach. Lifeguards are on duty here in-season. There's limited free parking and several daily fee parking lots. Unless you arrive early, expect to pay for parking during the summer.

Directions
From the Maine Turnpike take the Wells exit and follow Route 9 to Route 1S, then follow signs to the beach.
