Haven , Martha's Vineyard
Vineyard
Haven is special to both tourists and residents alike. Great shops,
fine restaurants, and a beautiful harbor are just some of the
attractions that add to its New England charm.
The town that incorporates Vineyard Haven is called Tisbury, after
a parish in England near the birthplace of the Island's first
governor, Thomas Mayhew. British settlements here date from the
mid-1600s, when Mayhew purchased land rights from the local Wampanoag
Indians.
Many other scenic places exist in town too. Main Street, the harbor,
Lake Tashmoo, West Chop Lighthouse, and the Beach Road drawbridge
are all favorite spots for photographer..
