Katama (aka South Beach) Martha's Vineyard

Description: Katama (also called South Beach) is three miles of barrier beach on Edgartown's south shore. The Vineyard's largest public beach, this is a popular local surf spot.

Its outer beach is accessible only via 4WD or small boat. Katama also offers great views of the inside bay. Lifeguards are on duty here in-season.

Directions: Located at the end of Katama Rd. A shuttle bus regularly runs between here and Edgartown center.

katama beach or south beach is my favorite hang out. with a relative half a mile away i can walk or ride to the beach. the waves are beautiful and change throught the seasons. The view and the scenary are truly beutiful also. the water is warm in mid summer and the beach is just a fun place to chill. it was even filmed on a movie.
