East Beach , Martha's Vineyard
Description: East Beach (formally known as the Cape Pogue Wildlife Refuge) is located on Chappaquiddick Isle. This protected area is owned/operated by an local conservation group, the Trustees of Reservations and is arguably one of the best beaches on the Vineyard. Due to restricted access, it's one of the area?s most remote shorelines and is an excellent birdwatching venue, as well.
Cape Pogue is only accessible by boat or 4WD vehicle. A ferry does run regularly to here from Edgartown during the season. The surf is usually strong, and no public facilities exist. The Trustees also charge a small fee for non-members to visit the preserve. Open to all.
