Description:
Cahoon Hollow is one of Wellfleet's most popular beaches. The shore here
is lined with huge 90' sand dunes. The Atlantic water is usually brisk
(high 50s to low 60s) during the season. This spot attracts beachgoers
of all ages, but mainly teens and college students.
The Wellfleet Beachcomber is a popular seaside bar and grill located right
in Cahoon Hollow's parking lot. It offers lunch, dinner, a raw bar and
frozen cocktails. Originally built as a 19th century lifesaving station,
the Beachcomber is a premier New England venue for hot rock, reggae and
ska bands.
Cahoon Hollow features portable toilets and concessions provided by the
Beachcomber. Parking is subject to a daily summer fee. Two sand lots exist
- a smaller one run by the town and a larger one owned by the Beachcomber.
Both lots fill up by late morning, so be sure to arrive early.
