Sandy Beach Portsmouth

Just 10 minutes from Portsmouth is this beautiful crescent shaped beach with views of New Castle lighthouse and boats going in and out of Portsmouth Harbor. The beach is somewhat rocky. There's no parking at the beach itself but parking (fee) is available at New Castle Commons. This beach is a popular biking destination offering. No lifeguards, bathrooms, snackbar or any other facilities are available. DIRECTIONS: Rt 1B from through village, left to Coast Guard station, right just before the station entrance.
 

Pawtuckaway State Park Pond

The large sandy beach on the shore of Pawtukaway Pond is perfect for families. There is a bathhouse, group picnic area, playground, store, and a group shelter with a ball field available by reservation only Campground sites surround the pond. Swimming, hiking and fishing are popular summer activities here. Pawtuckaway State Park offers a wide variety of landscapes beyond the pond. Hikers can climb a trail to a mountaintop fire tower. Wildlife enthusiasts can scout for beavers, deer, and great blue heron in the marsh area. Amateur geolgists will enjoy exploring the boulder field created by retreating glaciers. The day-use area of the park is open on weekends only starting May 27, then daily from June 24 through September 4, 2006, then weekends only through Columbus Day (including Monday, October 9). Hours of operation are 10:00am - 7:00pm Mondays through Thursdays, and 9:00am - 7:00pm, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $1 for children ages 6-11; children ages 5 and under and NH residents age 65 and over are admitted free. Forest Lake State Park Dalton

This 200 foot long sandy beach on Forest Lake is great for swimming and playing. Forest Lake State Park covers 397 acre. Picnic tables, flush toilets a group use area and playground are provided. Clough State Park Everett Lake

This 900 foot long sandy beach on Everett Lake in Clough State Park is great for swimming. There are two bath houses with flush toilets and changing areas. Picnic tables are located in a picnic grove. Kids will enjoy the playing fields. A boat launch is available for small boats or canoes (motorized boats are not permitted). Everett Lake is formed by a dam on the Piscataquog River. Water levels can vary greatly. If the water is too high the beach area is closed. Check with the park in advance. Admission is $3 for adults; $1 for children ages 6-11; children ages 5 and under and NH residents age 65 and over are admitted free. Pets are not allowed. Melvin Village Wharf Lake Winnipesaukee

This is a small sandy beach beside the Melvin Village wharf. There are no lifeguards, no toilets and limited parking. Rt 109 to Melvin Wharf Rd. Melvin Village is a small town nestled beside Moultonborough Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee New Hampshire.
