The large sandy beach on the shore of Pawtukaway Pond is perfect for families. There is a bathhouse, group picnic area, playground, store, and a group shelter with a ball field available by reservation only Campground sites surround the pond. Swimming, hiking and fishing are popular summer activities here.
Pawtuckaway State Park offers a wide variety of landscapes beyond the pond. Hikers can climb a trail to a mountaintop fire tower. Wildlife enthusiasts can scout for beavers, deer, and great blue heron in the marsh area. Amateur geolgists will enjoy exploring the boulder field created by retreating glaciers.
The day-use area of the park is open on weekends only starting May 27, then daily from June 24 through September 4, 2006, then weekends only through Columbus Day (including Monday, October 9). Hours of operation are 10:00am - 7:00pm Mondays through Thursdays, and 9:00am - 7:00pm, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $1 for children ages 6-11; children ages 5 and under and NH residents age 65 and over are admitted free.
