Chatham

Chatham MA

Located at the Cape's "elbow," Chatham is famous for its Main Street district, a two-mile stretch of boutiques, galleries and restaurants. With many miles of shoreline, Chatham sports some of the Cape's most beautiful harbors and beaches. Due to its location on Nantucket Sound, fog often rolls in here on southwest winds while towns to the west are sunny.

Warm summer days, cool nights, beautiful falls and relatively mild winters make this a comfortable place to visit or live. Chatham was settled in 1656 by Pilgrims, whose surnames still grace the town's census list. The town was founded in 1712. Today, deep sea fishing is an important source of the town's revenue. Covering 17 square miles, Chatham is an amalgamation of past and present: quaint and scenic, yet offering all modern facilities.

Bourne

Bourne MA

Bourne is a medium-sized community at the gateway to Cape Cod. The Cape Cod Canal bisects it, with the Bourne/Sagamore bridges and the railroad bridge all located here. The canal is well known for its superb sport fishing.

The Bourne Scenic Park campground lies beneath the Bourne Bridge and is a great place to enjoy views of the canal. Bourne has numerous quiet harbors and inlets for boating and swimming. Shellfishing here is also quite good.

This is a quiet community without the summer tourist crush experienced by other Cape towns. The Bourne Scallop Festival, which is held every year in early September, draws visitors from across the nation.
