Ledge
Elbow Ledge is a rocky reef break located about 2 miles from Sachuest
Point in Newport. This is known as a fickle big wave spot when surf
exceeds double overhead. It needs a solid SE storm swell in order
to work properly. Second Beach (Sachuest) is an exposed beach and
point break that works conistently year-round. This spot offers
both lefts and rights along with a left point. Waves tend to break
well through all tidal phases. Crowding is usually not an issue,
even during a solid swell. Ideal conditions consist of N winds and
a SE swell direction. Beware of rip currents - they are prevalent
here.
